About Avonmore Developments 

  • Avonmore was established in 2000 by Simon and Michael Blakey and has now invested in >50 early-stage companies in over 75 funding rounds 

  • Provides pre-seed and seed equity capital, primarily for UK-based B2B and deep-tech start-ups with high growth potential

  • Asian market know-how through Cocoon Capital (launched by Michael Blakey in 2016)

  • Currently >25 companies in the current UK portfolio along with numerous investments across SE Asia.

  • Avonmore portfolio companies have subsequently raised money from the likes of Softbank, Amadeus, Index, Molten, IQ, Notion, Lower Carbon, QED and Ventech amongst others. Several very profitable exits to date.

  • Simon Blakey is a board member of Cambridge Angels and chairs the investment Committee of Playfair Capital (their £70M Fund III launched in 2023). He has also been on the Investment Committee of the UK Government-backed Angel Cofund since 2014.

What are we looking for?

Key investment criteria:

  • Entrepreneurial management teams with in-depth market knowledge and experience in their chosen sector

  • Some proven market demand

  • Defendable technology and generally with a B2B sales focus

  • UK (preference) or Europe-based

Avonmore provides initial funding of £50,000 - £200,000 from its own resources but works with a wide range of high net worth investors, family offices and venture capital funds to raise larger syndicates
